Happy Fourth of July

Hi Friends,

First, let me show my wedding card.  I wanted to use my DeNami rose image and added a few highlights around the sentiment.

Living here on the east coast means that our 4th of July is rain-rain-rain.  That didn't stop us from celebrating a traditional American Fourth of July celebration, we just did it earlier.

They moved the Boston Pop's concert up so they had it last night.  We decided to head in and I'm so glad we did.  I made a picnic dinner of lobster roll sandwiches and the esplanade (where they have the concert) was crowded but not unbearable.  the clouds were rolling in, but the concert was great.  They ended a bit early and finished by 10:00 so they could do the fireworks.  We made it back to our car just before the thunderstorms rolled in.

The Boston Pops free concert on the 4th has been a tradition for forever.  This year they brought in some great entertainers - Megan Hilty (from the TV show Smash) and the Beach Boys.  Everyone was great and we enjoyed it.

Then this morning Bob and I got up and headed back into the city for our 8:30am Freedom Run.  This is a 5k run where the guides stop along the way and give information about the historic site.   It was very humid, but thankfully no rain the whole time.

I was the last runner at most all the stops, but hey, I made it!  We got home around lunchtime and I took a nap.

Even the slowest runner gets to say they did it (and get a t-shirt to prove it!)  I highly recommend this 'tour' of Boston for anyone considering coming into town who is at all athletic.

It was a great way to see the city.  We had the BEST tour going on the 4th because we got a lot of 'extra's.'  They had fife and drum bands, lots of tours, lots of tourists and we got to see the U.S. Constitution head out on it's yearly 1 mile trip to sea.  We were on the ferry boat after the run ended and the Constitution went right by us in the water.  We had the best view.

We didn't stick around after the race, the rains were expected to arrive by noon, so we headed home.

Now we are just hanging out, enjoying the air conditioning and maybe we'll watch a movie.  What did you do for the holiday?  I hope you found a way to enjoy yourself regardless of the weather!

Linda, it sounds like you had an awesome time! That 5k sounds like so much fun. I love the simplicity of your wedding card. I recently picked up that rose image and Leah could not wait to play with it. Beautiful card!

what a great day.... i'm pea green with envy! we just did the freedom trail on our wedding visit, and enjoyed it immensely.
the weather here in the fingerlakes is picture perfect! sunny skies, low humidity and gentle breezes. we gathered at the lake house for our traditional fourth with a picnic, fireworks and kids swimming and playing games in the back yard. today we are poolside as i compete in the Tour deFleece. lots of fiber, lots of fun!
